HERNANDO, Miss. — A pair of thieves picked the wrong house to break into.

Hernando Police say they broke into an officer's house while his teenage daughter was home sleeping.

"Time's are changing, and It's not fair," a neighbor said.

Cole Garrett loves his quiet neighborhood, but he knows no place is off limits to criminals. That's why he keeps his doors and windows locked.

"People I haven't seen before walk up and down the streets late at night," Garrett said.

Hernando Police say, in March, two men burglarized a house right down the street.

Officers say the suspects entered through an unlocked door. The house belonged to a retired police officer.

"We think they were probably riding around the neighborhood and waiting on someone to leave for work,"

Detectives say the two men worked fast. They ransacked the family's house, looking for anything of value.

"They had a plan. They knew where they were going. They went into a master bedroom and took what they could carry from there," the detective said.

The suspects' grabbed guns, money, jewelry and left.

"They're not from here. They had a deliberate intent of doing wrong here in our city," the detective said.

Evidence located by Hernando Police led them to Shawn Sanders and Mario Jackson, both from Memphis.

U.S. Marshals arrested and charged Sanders two weeks after the burglary, but officers are still searching for Jackson and the stolen guns.

"We are not going to stop looking for you," the detective said.

If you know where 32-year-old Marion Jackson is hiding call the Hernando Police Department at (662)-429-9096 or Desoto Crime Stoppers at (662)-429-Tips.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are looking for answers to a case that's been cold for four years.

Now a heartbroken father is making a plea for help.

Reginald Johnson knows the hurt and pain of losing a child to violence.

"I`m not ashamed to say it, it`s been the worst time of my life," the father said.

Memphis Police say four years ago, his son Samuel Johnson was walking down Glenalp near Derbyshire when someone driving a dark colored car pulled up and opened fire.

The victim's father believes his son was set up to be killed.

He says the 21-year-old got a call from two people inviting him to a Halloween party at a gym..

"He left here walking to the gym, and about thirty or forty minutes later people were knocking on the door saying Sam was laying in the street," Johnson said.

Home surveillance video shows the victim walking down the street seconds before he was killed.

His father never though when he saw his son walk out of the house that evening it would be the last time he would see him alive.

"I take medicine at night so that I can go to sleep," Johnson said. "Nobody knows the pain that this stuff causes to a family."

It's pain that never seems to get any better.

Homicide detectives say this isn't the first time Samuel Johnson was targeted.

Officers say he was shot in the back weeks earlier.

"There are several different little neighborhood gangs in this area that could have had some involvement in this," an officer said. "This will happen again and again if we don't get some of these killers off the street."

His body was covered in blood. It's an image she says she will never forget.

"He's been dead over a year, and it's still hard to believe," she said.

Memphis Police say 34-year-old Terrance Wright was stabbed multiple times.

Investigators say Wright's body was in his Hickory Hill apartment for two days before his mother found him.

"I knocked on the door and there was no answer. I turned to walk away and something told me to see if the door is unlocked. I turned the door knob, and there he was lying on the floor," Shirley Wright said.

Wright says her son's apartment was ransacked and says it appeared that her son struggled with his killer.

"He was a good friend at heart, and everybody was his friend. He called everybody his 'homie," she said. "I'm up in age. I don't want to go to my grave and not know who did this to my son."

Wright admits her son used drugs, and that may have been what led to his murder.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Family members and investigators are struggling to keep hope alive in a murder case that's threatening to go cold.

Manhunt Monday: Police continue searching for suspect accused of beating girlfriend more than a year later

$

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Panola County man is believed to be hiding in Memphis more than a year after investigators say he beat his girlfriend and left her to die.

"He's just out there like a predator looking for the next female victim," Investigator Terry Smith, with the Panola County Sheriff's Department, said.

Barbara Hamilton and Antonio Carter have known each other for most of their lives. Hamilton says when they first met, he was a different person.

'He started out real nice."

She says Carter's demeanor quickly changed and he started beating her.

Police say in 2015 Carter attacked her with a box cutter, causing her to lose sight in one of her eyes.

"He cut me completely across the black pupil," Hamilton said. "He said, 'Your eye is bleeding.' And I walked in the bathroom and looked and blood was just gushing out of my eye."

Panola County Sheriff Deputies arrested and charged Carter with assaulting Hamilton. But when the case finally made it to court, Hamilton says she asked the judge not to send the father of her two children to prison.

"I was really a fool in love. I've been like that ever since I've been with him. Everybody's been telling me to leave him alone."

Hamilton now admits that was one of the biggest mistakes she's made in her life - one that almost cost her her life.

She says not long after Carter was released from jail, he was hitting and punching her again.

Panola County deputies say it's what Carter did to Hamilton in October 2016 that has the U.S. Marshals on his trail. Investigators say Carter lured Hamilton to a shed in Courtland, Mississippi and held her for hours against her will.

"He basically would not let her leave. He held her down. And according to her, forced her to have sex with him," Investigator Smith said.

Hamilton says when she refused to have sex with him, he beat her with a stick, punched and hit her with his fist and threatened her life with a shovel. She was forced to stay in the small shed all night before he released her.

Her family called police, but Carter took off before he could be arrested.

"He's a threat to anybody he comes across - whether it's male or female," Smith said.

If you know where 41-year-old Antonio Perez Carter is hiding, call the Panola County Sheriff's Department at (662)-487-1733. All calls are confidential.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Victor Wallace was having the time of his life celebrating his birthday. But it all came to an end when someone pulled out a gun and shot him.

His family says that wasn't the only crime that was committed that night.

"I'm cautious. I watch my back. I'm nervous," Wallace's sister, Whitney Williams, said.

Williams is on a mission to find out who killed her brother and why. She says Wallace was standing outside of Club Infinity five years ago when someone drove up and shot him.

"I cry everyday."

She says her brother was having a good time celebrating his birthday with family and friends. Now she wonders if those friends he was hanging out with had something to do with his murder.

"They just drove up and started shooting. They never got out of the vehicle." she said. "Your friends was around you. As you laid there dying, somebody took everything that you had that belonged to you off of you."

Williams says his brother had money in his backpack, money that has never been recovered. She says she can't help but think that her brother was set up to be murdered.

"Just to see him from standing on his feet dancing and enjoying himself to laying there."

She says the gunmen shot her brother multiple times and then sprayed the car he was driving with bullets.

"I feel I could have saw it and I could have done something to prevent him from going there. I feel guilty."

If you know who killed Victor Wallace, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at (901)-528-CASH. All calls are confidential.
